SPECIAL PROGRAMMES
Here at Excel we pride ourselves in being able to meet your needs in areas other than English Language study. Below are some of the areas we can provide additional services in.
Voluntary Work
A programme that Excel English College offers is Volunteer work placement. This is a wonderful way to see first hand how places such as a child care centre or retirement home operates in New Zealand
. You may come and study as a full time student and afterwards do the placement or in some cases can study part time and do the placment in the afternoons. This does depend on the type of placement. Other voluntary work could include such things as animal care or environmental work. Let us know what your interests are and we will try to place you in a job that matches.
While in the work place we continue to have contact with both you and your place of work to provide the necessary support.
Parent & Child
If you want to come and study at Excel and have a child or children then there are as few options available to you.
we can assist you to find a suitable child care centre
if you need to be home when your child finishes school, you can study as a part-time plus student but finish at 2pm each day instead of 3pm on 2 days.
- it may also be possible for your child to study at Excel. We are able to take students aged 11 years and over but talk to us if you have a child younger than this.

Because Excel is located in the centre of the city it is a little easier for students to find work. Some of the work you could expect to find are such jobs as shop assistant, hotel work or restaurant serving. If you have a qualification then work can be found in specialist fields also such as hairdressing or as a chef.
At Excel we won't find you a job but we will help you prepare by giving you the relevant language skills you need to communicate, prepare a CV (resume) and also direct you to businesses that could be seeking workers.
There is usually plenty of seasonal work such as apple picking and other agricultural type work. We are only too happy to help and give advice.
"If you would like to experience a friendly school and have lots of opportunities for an outgoing life while in NZ., I would suggest Excel is the best school for you! I made many friends from diverse cultures and my study helped me prepare for my work experience".
