The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is recognised all over the world. It is a direct English language assessment of the highest quality and integrity, readily available throughout the world.

Excel English College’s IELTS teachers are all very experienced and can help you achieve the best possible score for IELTS. They not only make the course interesting and keep you motivated but also care about you as a student at a personal level.


The Excel IELTS course runs in three 6-week cycles giving it a total length of 18 weeks. Students can join it at any time. Each 6-week cycle consists of:
- 4 weeks of language building and IELTS exam skills and
- 2 weeks of intensive IELTS exam preparation as can be seen in the table below.

 Each student is also be provided with supplementary material. This includes hints on passing the exam, a grammar & vocabulary list and internet resources for further study.

The Christchurch IELTS testing centre is located at CPIT - a 10min walk or free bus ride from Excel English College. Exams are held regularly though the year. The exam cost  is $340.00.
