Conditions of Enrolment
Enrolments
Enrolments are subject to the following conditions which become legally binding on a student when the student’s enrolment is completed.
EEC reserves the right to accept or decline any student.
Enrolment is made only when EEC receives and accepts full payment of fees.
Fees (Registration, Tuition, Homestay Placement and Accommodation)
All fees must be paid 14 days before the course begins, or when the invoice is received.
Course fees are worked out in complete weeks, including weeks with public holidays. Three or more days count as a week.
If any services included in the fee are not used, (except for the accommodation) no refund is possible.
The first day of attendance at the college is deemed to be the course starting date
(unless a set starting date agreed on a case by case basis).
If there is an early departure from the course after the first 7 days after the first day of the course, no refund is possible. (See ‘Withdrawals and Refunds’ below for more details).
All tuition fees include the New Zealand Government Goods and Services Tax (12.5%). Changes to this law will also affect the amount of fees charged.
Fees cannot be transferred to any other institution or student.
If students extend their course they are automatically accepting the conditions of enrolment, which applied when they made their original enrolment (unless otherwise agreed).
Cancellations, Withdrawals and Refunds
Cancellations, Withdrawals and Refunds are calculated as follows:-
Cancellations made in writing (14) or more days before course commencement will result in a full refund of all course fees less the administration fee of $100.
Withdrawals and Refunds are calculated as follows:
1. Course length less than 5 weeks.
Within the first 2 days of the course - 50% of total fees paid.
After more than 2 days of the course - No refund of fees
2. Course length between 5 and 13 weeks.
Within the first 5 days of the course - 75% of the total fees paid
After more than 5 days of the course – No refund of fees
3. Course length more than 13 weeks.
Within the first 8 days of the course – Full refund less 15% of total fee
or $500 whichever is the lesser.
Homestay fees unused will be refunded. The homestay placement fee is not
refundable.
Tuition fees will be held in a trust account and paid to EEC progressively over the term of the course
The refund of any fees charged by an agent will have to be claimed from the agent separately.
Refunds on compassionate grounds may be granted at the discretion of the Managing Director.
Refunds or enrolment extensions will not be given to students taking a holiday during their course unless agreed on at enrolment.
All refunds are made in NZ$. The college is not responsible for any changes in the value of currencies or for student’s bank fees.
No refunds will be made to a student who is asked to leave the college because of misbehaviour, poor attendance or violation of New Zealand laws, including traffic laws.
Home stay Accommodation
Home stay accommodation includes breakfast and dinner. It also includes a lunch on Saturday and Sunday. During the week students may buy their lunch from the many restaurants and cafes near the College.
Any cancellations or changes to Home stay accommodation must be made at least one week (7days) before the cancellation or change. Failure to do this will mean an extra payment of one weeks accommodation fee.
Accommodation fees are worked out in complete weeks. Parts of a week are charged on a daily basis.
EEC act only as an agent for Home stay accommodation and cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness or damage to a student or goods which may happen during the student’s stay with a host family. The student is responsible for providing insurance to cover these risks. EEC can help in the arrangement of this insurance.
Students are not permitted to negotiate private arrangements with EEC accommodation providers.
College Rules
The rules set by EEC are to help the school run smoothly. All students who enrol with EEC must accept and comply with these rules as a contractual condition of enrolment.
EEC reserves the right to refuse entry on a course to any student suffering from a mental or physical disability not shown on the enrolment form.
EEC has the right to issue a warning letter to any student who breaks the rules or behaves badly. If there is no improvement in the behaviour, EEC may expel the student from the College. No refund will be given in this case.
Students must obey New Zealand laws. If a student commits an offence (breaks the law), or is convicted of an offence, he or she may be expelled from the school without a written warning. Any student who is expelled will not be entitled to a refund of fees.
The New Zealand Immigration Service will be informed if a student is expelled from the College.
Non Attendance
Students are required to attend class every school day, except in cases of illness or pre arranged absence.
Repeated failure to comply with attendance requirements will result in a verbal warning.
Continued failure to comply will result in a written warning. If non- compliance continues, the student’s course may be terminated. No refund of fees will be given in this case.
Students are advised that it is desirable to have an attendance rate of at least 80%. New Zealand Immigration requires an attendance report for a student visa holder to obtain another visa in New Zealand.

Liability
EEC is not liable for any damage, loss or injury to students or property, however caused, except where this liability is imposed by the laws of New Zealand.
EEC advises students to purchase personal insurance to cover themselves against accident, illness, theft, loss or damage to personal possessions, and the loss of fees through non-arrival, absence, or unexpected termination of their course.
EEC is not liable to any student if contracted services cannot be provided for any reason beyond its control.
EEC reserves the right to alter a course if deemed necessary.
Fee Protection Policy
All fees received for tuition and homestay are placed in an independent Trust Account with the Public Trust in an individual student's named account.
The Student Fee Protection system protects your fees so that should a course be closed, you can either choose an alternative course or school, or you can receive a pro rata refund of your fees.
All your fees kept in this independent trust account are paid to the College by the trustee on a pro rata basis as your tuition is provided.
School Closing Dates
EEC is closed on public holidays and also for a two (2) week period over Christmas and New Year.
Validity
These conditions are valid from 01 January 2007 and remain valid until replaced by new terms and conditions.
If these conditions are translated to another language, the English copy remains the correct version.
